Grid is a consumer fintech company designed to make everyday financial services more accessible. Through one app, it helps users build credit, increase take-home pay, and access cash when needed. Grid processes financial transactions for its users across accounts, each of which need to be nearly perfect day-to-day, in real time and over the course of years of history.

Claude could analyze the data. Summation helps Grid run its business.

Grid is an AI-native company. Teams were already heavily using Claude to analyze data and answer ad hoc questions. But as they tried to scale individual workflows across the business, Grid quickly ran into limits.

Every morning, Grid’s product team opens a live Summation dashboard during its stand-up. They review customer usage, product performance, system health, and other key metrics. When something looks off - a spike in engagement, lower activity, or a potential service issue - the team starts investigating directly from the dashboard to invoke agents that find the root cause.

From one person’s Claude to a team-wide workflow

Claude is a great single-player tool. But work from one person's laptop carried a lot of invisible context: how that individual had configured Claude, the prompts they had used, what they knew about Grid’s data, and how they interpreted different metrics.

As Mickey Reiss, Head of Engineering, put it:

“You have to be kind of an expert in a lot of different layers at the same time to trust it… The biggest delta in our workflow is that Summation is actually shared.”

Summation is designed to be used by teams. It standardizes the business context, data definitions, and analytical logic for the entire business. Analysts, operators, and company leaders access the same analysis, grounded in the same live data and shared understanding of the business, and build on one another’s work.

Repeatable analysis, without rebuilding it every day

Grid uses Summation Playbooks to run recurring analyses throughout the day.

Each run refreshes the analysis against the latest data across customer usage, product performance, financials, and system health. Instead of someone pulling the data, rebuilding the prompt, and generating another one-off analysis each time, Grid sets up the workflow once and lets it continue running on schedule on live data.

“Once I was able to do it and it was working well, I didn’t really have to worry about it,” said Shubh Tandon, a Data Scientist. “It was just going.”

Bijan Safai, Software Engineering Manager, described his Claude reports as “generate one time and then move on.” Summation gave the team a repeatable company-wide framework that everyone could continue using.

Live dashboards put everyone on the same page

The live dashboard was “the biggest game changer”.

While generic AI could produce an ad-hoc analysis or document, Grid would still have to use another tool to turn it into a dashboard that runs on live data.

Everyone can open the same dashboard at the same time, see the latest data, and work from the same view. In one instance, Grid noticed that engagement with one part of its product had changed suddenly. Grid used Summation’s agents to investigate directly from the dashboard and connected it to a recent change in the product’s user interface—no tool-stitching required.

Grid still uses Claude and Codex for one-off data analysis. But when the work needs to become something the company can collaborate on, run repeatedly on live data, and operate from every day, Grid uses Summation.
